They are invaded by thousands of baby boomers who discovered that their pensions go approximately one third farther than back home, when came here looking for a tranquil and affordable place to retire. And Mazatlán is one of the best options. This country has no other destination combining these advantages: A city with all the services with tourist attractions and history mixed in harmony; the warmth of its people, 10 months of wonderful weather, natural beauty, safety, the largest boardwalk and of course, a very acceptable living cost. All of these make Mazatlán the best place to retire. So, if you are an active adult looking for that place, stop looking!

  • Food: You can still get a trunk full of groceries for about $50, and if you buy your vegetables in a fruit store the bill will be less.
  • Healthcare: Medicines in Mazatlán are a fraction of what they are in the U.S. and Canada and if you get generics they are lower.
  • Transportation: You will be surprised when taking a bus (only 50 cents). There is a tourist route going thru the Malecon and downtown from Cerritos to the Lighthouse, from one end of the city to the. Cost? 80 cents! There are also 4 taxi companies operating in town with prices ranging from 3 to 7 dollars within the city.
  • Rents: Mazatlán distinguishes itself from all other tourist destinations in the rents very low. Here is an example: You can rent a 2 bedroom apartment on the Historic Area for $250 a month.
  • Hotels: It is hard to believe that you can find an oceanfront Hotel room for only $35 in low season. There is availability for all budgets so friends and relatives can visit.
  • Insurance: In Mazatlán, there are plenty of choices to get Car Insurance and prices are a small fraction compared to US and Canada, the same is true for Health Insurance.
  • Entertaining: You can find many entertaining options in the city like an American movie theater $3.50, rent movies from $1.50, horseback riding from $20 an hour, bike rent $20 an hour, pulmonía ride $3 and many more.
  • Tours: If you are the explorer type, enjoy the Stone Island Tour, a 3 hour boat ride all over the South area of Mazatlán and a lunch at Stone Island with 2 activities to choose for only $15. The Ecological Tour for $25, tours to the surrounding areas with different themes and activities from $40.
  • Real estate: And of course, once you have found all the advantages of living in Mazatlán you may consider investing here…and you will have a big surprise when you find that property prices are about 40% lower than Cancún and Cabo and about 30% lower than Vallarta.
